High Definition Scan of Mottisfont Abbey

We were engaged to undertake a high definition scan for the fascinating Mottisfont Abbey, located a short 5 minute drive from the GEOSIGHT office.

Steeped in history, the early 12th century house with medieval priory at its core, now owned by the National Trust, proved to be a delight to work alongside and enabled scans of the now mostly hidden original building to be uncovered.

The purpose of the high definition scans, which included access to the treasured Whistler room, Red Room, and renowned vaulted Cellarium stretching back to the 13th century, was to prepare for a new art installation by Heinrich and Palmer in late 2019.

GEOSIGHT employee James Tidswell headed the project at Mottisfont, describing the property as a ‘joy’ and further went onto describe his experience at the period house:

“I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to scan such a beautiful historic house, capturing the character of the property using laser scanners. The scans were very successful in showing the intricate arches and cobbled floor of the Cellarium but also some of the quirky features of the house. I am very much looking forward to the finished art installation at the house later this year”.
